Philadelphia LAN Meeting
Registration is now open for the 25th annual meeting of the Philadelphia LAN, the network of local area health professions advisors and medical school admissions representatives, which is set for Friday, January 6, 2023, from 9:15 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, 4170 City Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Adrianne Jones, Chief Admissions Officer, and Kari Shotwell, Executive Director of Admissions, have graciously agreed to host the meeting which always provides an important opportunity for advising colleagues and professional school representatives to discuss current topics and issues related to medical education. There will be no fee for registration and campus parking is free. Due to scheduling of rooms for teaching activities, the morning session of the LAN meeting will be hosted at the Hilton Philadelphia City Avenue, adjacent to the PCOM campus. The afternoon portion of the meeting will transition to interactive group sessions on the PCOM campus (information here).
Program Agenda: The program (Philadelphia LAN Agenda 2023) will focus on Moving out of the comfort zone and into growth. The morning program will feature updates from regional medical schools and from AACOM representatives. Over lunch, the program will highlight the intra-professional education approach at PCOM, and advisors will meet a panel of medical students who will share their experiences of growth stepping outside their comfort zones along pivotal transition points in their pathways. Q&A will be available. The afternoon program includes experiential advisor opportunities to visit patient simulation and/or anatomy labs to see and move through lesson activities as an opportunity to grow in understanding of PCOM’s educational approach. Attendees will also have a chance to network and participate in discussion with fellow advisors and professional school attendees, celebrating our first in-person gathering since the start of the pandemic to mark a quarter century of the fruitful collegiality of this annual LAN meeting.
We hope you will join your Philadelphia and Northeast area colleagues for this informative and collaborative meeting. Registration/check-in will open at 9:15 a.m. at the City Avenue Hilton, 4200 City Avenue, Philadelphia PA, 19131 which is located adjacent to the PCOM campus.
